OnePlus 15R

The OnePlus 15R is finally here. Yes, the OnePlus 15 was launched a few weeks ago, almost a month ago. And now its little brother—the OnePlus 15R—has arrived in the market. This phone is the first device built on OnePlus’ 8 Gen 5 chip.

Just by looking at the name, it might seem like it will be similar to the 8 Lite, but the specifications and performance of the two phones are not that similar. The performance difference is around 19–20%, and the 8 Gen 5 is roughly offering the same level of performance as last year’s flagships.

Today, friends, we are doing An unboxing And First experience The full review video will be up on the 17th—that’s all for now, given all the weird embargo emails OnePlus sends. So subscribe, ring the notification bell, and you’ll see the review as soon as it’s uploaded.

Unboxing – What’s inside the box?

The first thing I found upon opening the box was the documentation—a quick guide that, frankly, no one reads. It comes with a color-coordinated, opaque case, the quality is excellent.

The phone comes in three colors, and we have them all. Mint Breeze The color is really attractive to look at.

The box also contains:

  • A 80W charger, really big advantage
  • USB Type-A to Type-C red cable
  • SIM ejector pin

Overall, the unboxing experience is quite premium.

First Look – Design and Hand Feel

The first thing you notice when you pick up the phone is its premium finish. I personally use the OnePlus 15, so the difference is clear when you compare the two side by side.

The 15R is slightly larger in size and feels a bit light in the hand. The matte finish on the back doesn’t show fingerprints. The logo is also quite minimal and nicely placed.

In terms of design:

  • Flat side
  • Metal frame
  • Glass-metal sandwich style

Which gives the phone a very modern and clean look.

Ports and buttons:

  • Bottom: Speaker grill, USB-C, microphone, SIM tray
  • Left: Alert slider (OnePlus signature)
  • Above: noise-cancelling mic + speaker slit
  • Right: IR blaster, volume rocker, power button

And of course—there has to be that satisfying peel-off sound of a new phone wrapped in plastic.

Display

I can’t show the whole display, but what I can say:

  • 6.83-inch LTPS panel
  • 1.5K resolution
  • 165Hz refresh rate
  • 1800 nits HBM

OnePlus has really put a lot of emphasis on durability this time around—there are multiple IP ratings (IP66, IP68, IP69). Splashes, dust, and even underwater shooting—shouldn’t be a problem.

Camera

There is no telephoto lens here like the OnePlus 13R.
Contains:

  • Primary sensor
  • Ultra-wide sensor

A big plus point is 4K 120FPS video recording—Great deal at this price.

Performance

The phone is new.8 Gen 5 chips Although the performance is close to the 8 Lite, there are improvements in some areas.
I can’t share the exact AnTuTu score right now (embargo), but to give you an idea, you’ll get power equivalent to last year’s flagship.

Variants:

  • 12GB + 256GB
  • 12GB + 512GB
(This time there is probably no 16GB option)

Battery & Charging

  • 7400 mAh battery
  • 80W fast charging

Since I’m using the OnePlus 15, which has a 100mAh battery, I can say that it easily lasts for one and a half to two days. So the 15R should be similarly battery efficient.

Oxygen OS is already known for its efficiency—now it has added even more AI optimizations.

Expected Price

The OnePlus 15R is likely to cost:

  • Base variant: Around ₹45k
  • Top Variant:₹48–50k

Last year the 13R was under 40k, so this time the price will increase slightly—the 45–50k range is quite possible.

Final Notes

Official launch event on the 15th. Coming at the same event OnePlus Pad G2
OnePlus is clearly focusing a lot more on performance + battery efficiency this year (2025–26).
